I have been teaching physical education and health in Pinckney for 29 years. I have also had the privilege coaching the JV baseball team for 13 seasons (1993 - 2006) and the 7th grade boys' basketball team for 10 (1992 - 2002). Throughout the past several years, I've enjoyed time away from coaching to support my two daughters in their own after school endeavors (dancing, soccer, girl scouts among many others). Four years ago, I had the great fortune to resume coaching the JV baseball team once again.
My philosophy toward physical education - To grow into a healthy body and mind, young people must be given opportunities to explore, develop and enhance physical motor skills allowing them to succeed in creating a mindset that being physically active is paramount throughout one's life.
"Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it." - Plato
My goal each year is to make exercising fun, yet meaningful. I will do my best to create an environment where students can continue developing motor skills, feel successful and become more confident in their effort to become more physically fit.
